Amaretto Brownies

1 cup shortening
4 (1 oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate
2 cups sugar
4 eggs, beaten
2 T. amaretto
1 1/2 cups four
1/2 tsp. salt
*Amaretto Frosting

Combine shortening and chocolate in a heavy saucepan; place over low heat, stirring constantly until melted.  Add sugar stirring until combined.  Remove from heat and cool.  Stir in eggs and amaretto. Combine flour and salt; add to creamed mixture, stirring well.  Pour batter into a lightly greased 13X9 inch baking pan.  Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes; cool.  Frost with Amaretto Frosting.  Spring with sliced almonds and cut into squares. 

Amaretto Frosting

1/4 cup butter or margarine1
(1 oz.) square unsweetened chocolate
2 T. half-and-half
2 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar
Dash of salt
2 T. amaretto 

Combine butter and chocolate in a heavy saucepan; place over low heat, stirring constantly until melted.  Stir in half-and-half.  Add powdered sugar, salt, and amaretto, stirring constantly.
