Suzie-Q Cake

Oil Cake (see recipe in cake section)

1 cup milk
5 Tablespoons flour
Cook until thick, then cool the mixture.

1/2 cup Crisco
1 cup sugar
1 stick of butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon salt

Beat these five ingredients until fluffy, then add to the cooled milk mixture. Cream together in an electric mixer until thick.

To Assemble:
Carefully invert cooled oil cake (it is recommended that you line the oil cake pan with wax paper before pouring in the cake batter). Cut cake in half vertically. Then using a long piece of thread, cut cake in half horizontally using a sawing motion with the thread. Slide a large piece of waxed paper between the two layers, repeat for the other half of the cake. Then lift off top layers using the edges of the wax paper as handles. Spread half of the Suzie-Q filling on each of the bottom layers. Carefully lift the tops of the cakes and put them on top of the filling. Cake should be kept in a cool place.
